One of the unique practices of True Vine Farms is researching crops grown worldwide when choosing their seasonal produce. Frank and Lisa's secret is evaluating plants grown at the same geographical latitude as the Farms, regardless of where on the Earth that latitude falls. If you were to look around the world you would find that Mississippi is parallel to Iraq. This is where our favorite watermelon was originally cultivated. Ali baba is a wonderful pink watermelon that does fantastic in our hot dry summers. Mediterranian herbs such as thyme and oregano love the weather here also.
We enjoy growing many kinds of lettuces such as drunken woman frizzy headed, tom thumb, and red sails to name a few. One of Franks favorites to grow is peppers, both sweet and spicy. Delicious summer squash and sweet winter squash including everyones favorites butternut and acorn will be in the csa this fall. If there is anything you would like to have just let us know. We will grow it if we can find it.
